The Logan High School baseball team dropped to 7-3 on the season with Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Greenbrier Valley Christian Academy out of Chesapeake, Va., in the Mingo Bay Classic Baseball Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.


Chase Burnette pitched six innings for the Wildcats, allowing four runs with one of those earned.


Chase Preston led the Logan bats as he was 2-for-3.


Trace Butcher, Z. Minnick, Zack Hanlon and Tim Saunders all added for one hit a piece in the game.


Logan was scheduled to play Caldwell Academy of Greensboro, N.C., in the championship bracket of the semifinals on Thursday. Logan was then set to play a makeup game against Socastee High School, S.C., at the conclusion of the first game.


The Wildcats were playing Socastee on Tuesday when rain suspended play with Logan trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning.


Logan returns home on Friday and is scheduled to host Scott on Monday at 7 p.m. LHS will then host Man on Tuesday in another 7 p.m. contest at Roger E. Gertz Field.


* In other action, the Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team won 13-7 on Wednesday at Class AAA Point Pleasant.


No statistics were available.


The Tigers were scheduled to host Van on Thursday. CRHS is slated to play Moorefield on Saturday at noon in the Man tourney.


The Man High School baseball team’s game at Mount View on Tuesday was rained out. The Hillbilllies were scheduled to play at Lincoln County on Wednesday but no results were available.


The Logan softball team was slated to host Nitro on Wednesday, however, no score was reported.


The Chapmanville softball team’s game at Scott on Tuesday was rained out. The Lady Tigers were set to face Wayne on Wednesday, however, no score was available as of presstime.


Man’s softball team was at Wyoming East on Wednesday, but again, no score was reported.
