The Logan High School softball team dropped to 18-3 on the season with Thursday night’s 9-5 loss at home to Lincoln County.
The Class AAA No. 2 Lady Cats lost for the second time this season to Lincoln County, which beat Logan 8-0 last week in the Best of the Best Tournament at Buffalo.
Logan was coming off Wednesday’s 9-0 win at county rival Chapmanville.
The Lady Cats were scheduled to host Scott in a doubleheader on Friday but the games were canceled due to the death of a Scott High School student-athlete on Wednesday.
Logan was slated to get back into action with Saturday’s doubleheader at home against Pikeview.
Then on Monday, Logan hosts Man in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Three games are then left on the regular season schedule — next Tuesday at home against Sherman, next Wednesday at Wyoming East and May 2 at home against Chapmanville.
The following week, the Lady Cats battle with Nitro and St. Albans in the Class AAA sectional tournament at Nitro High School.
Belfry (Ky.) 7
On Wednesday, the Man High School baseball team traveled to Belfry (Ky.) and beat the Pirates 11-7.
Noah Maynard had two triples for the Hillbillies, which improved to 11-5 on the season.
John Thomas Keffer was the winning pitcher.
Man was scheduled to host River View on Friday but the game was rained out.
The Billies were set to travel to Buffalo on Saturday.
On Monday, Man has a rematch with Belfry in a 7:30 p.m. game at home.
Man then hosts Tug Valley on Tuesday in a 6 p.m. doubleheader. Game 1 is the continuation of an earlier matchup at Naugatuck which was suspended in the third inning with the Billies leading 7-0.
Also rained out on Friday night was the Man High School girls’ softball game against Van. The Lady Billies currently stand at 10-11 on the season.
