CHAPMANVILLE — Action resumed at the Coalfield Youth Soccer League this past Saturday.
This week’s matches marked the mid-season point for the league.
The undefeated 17-and-under Ninjas defeated the Wolverines 9-1. Hunter Napier and Walker Jeffery each scored four goals for the Ninjas and an OG. Martha Adams scored the Wolverines’ only goal.
The 17-and-under Knights enjoyed a fun game against the coaches, parents and a few 12-and-under players and won 8-5. Zach Lamb reached the net five times, while Stephen Clemens scored two and Madison Chambers scored once. Coach Alan Sheppard of the Phoenix scored two goals for the adults, along with Walter Macnamara Sr. (Phoenix coach), Hailey Chewning (of the 12-and-under Destroyers) and David Meade.
The Destroyers knocked off the previously undefeated Predators 6-2 in a 12-and-under match. John Justice led the Destroyers with five goals and Chewning reached the net once. Jayde Kuenzel and Xavier Trump scored for the Predators.
In another 12-and-under match, the Phoenix defeated the Royal Thunder 4-1. Kalee Vanatter, Zil Patel, Cameron Adkins and Erin Gore scored for the Phoenix. Allie Burton scored for the Royal Thunder.
The 9-and-under undefeated Fighting Geckos beat the Blue Lightning 6-2. Jax Hartle led the Fighting Geckos with four goals, while Riley Reed and Addyson Amick each scored once. Jackson Norman and Payton Hoffman scored for the Blue Lightning.
The Storm won against the Minions 7-2. Jesse Justice scored three for the Storm, while Tanner Clay netted two, Hunter Adams had one and an OG. Charity Toth and Michael Ojeda scored for the Minions.
Another 9-and-under undefeated team, the Toxic Shock, beat the Pumas 3-0. Michael Havis, Jaxton Tipton and Jordan Adams scored for the Toxic Shock. The Pumas also won their match against the Spartans 5 to nil. Nick Elliot scored three for the Pumas and Cassandra Carrillo and Landon Bourne each scored once.
Action is scheduled to resume this Saturday at the Mullins Soccer Complex on Sawmill Road at Chapmanville.
