CHAPMANVILLE — Week Six action resumed Saturday for the Coalfield Youth Soccer League as several matches were played at the Mullens Soccer Complex in Chapmanville.


The 17-and-under Knights defeated the Wolverines 5-2 in one of the featured matches. Stephen Clemons led the Knights with three goals while Ashley Matney and Whitney Evans scored one each. Austin Hanshaw scored both goals for the Wolverines.


Also in 17-and-under action, the Ninjas had some fun this weekend and beat a team made up of parents and coaches by the score of 8-2.


In a hard played 12-and-under match, the Predators edged out the Destroyers 6-4 in a penalty shootout. Hailey Chewning led the Destroyers with two goals and John Justice and Travis Ward reached the net once each. Peyton Adams and Jayde Kuenzel scored two goals each for the Predators. Peyton Adams and Megan Ward each scored a penalty shot for the win.


In another 12-and-under match, the Phoenix beat the Royal Thunder 8-0. Hailey Altizer and Hunter Alfry scored two goals for the Phoenix, while Sam Adkins, Wesley Macnamara, Matthew Hutchinson and Chloe Morrison scored one each.


In the 9-and-under division, the Storm beat the Spartans 8-0. Tanner Clay, Bryson Adkins and Ethan Brown scored two goals each for the Storm. Hunter Adams and Jesse Justice scored one each.


The Toxic Shock took first place in the 9-and-under division after beating the Fighting Geckos 6-2. Jacob Walls and Jordan Adams scored three each for the Toxic Shock. Jax Hartle and Riley Reed scored for the Fighting Geckos.


The Pumas beat the Minions 7 to nil in another 9-and-under match. Nick Elliot took control of the game, scoring six goals and Baylie Crum netted one.


The Blue Lightning beat the Spartans 9 to nil. Payton Hoffman led the Blue Lightning with four goals, while Braxton Carroll and Madison Hoffman had two each and Jackson Norman scored one.


Action is scheduled to resume on May 31 after the Memorial Day Holiday.
