CHAPMANVILLE — The third leg of the summer all-star Little League baseball tournaments are now underway.

The District 2 11-12-year-old all-star tourney was scheduled to begin on Monday at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field as Tug Valley played Pineville and Madison battled with Welch.

No scores were available as of presstime.

The seven-team tournament then is slated to continue on Tuesday as host Chapmanville plays Man at 6 p.m. in an all-Logan County matchup. Then at 8 p.m., Mullens takes on the Tug Valley/Pineville winner.

On Wednesday, the Madison/Welch winner plays the Chapmanville/Man winner at 6 p.m. Then at 8, the two losers play.

Two more games are set to be played on Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night.

The 11-12 finals are set for Saturday at a time to be announced later.

The district champion and runner-up move on to play in the state tournament the following week, also at Chapmanville.

The 11-12 state tourney, set to be played at Tracy Vickers Field and also Chapmanville Regional High School’s Ronnie Ooten Field, begins July 18.

The 9-10 all-star baseball tournament was played last week at Madison as the host Madison All-Stars won the District 2 championship with an 8-2 win over Pineville.

The win by Madison wrapped up a state tournament berth. Madison will be joined in the state tourney by Pineville, which finished as the district runner-ups after an 18-17 win over Madison.

All-Star tourney action began back in late June at Man with the 7-8-year-old Coach Pitch District 2 tournament. Host Man claimed the championship with a 20-10 victory over Madison.
