CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School golf team teed-off the season with a tri-match at the Logan Country Club on Tuesday.
The Tigers played Scott and Logan.
Scott defeated both Logan and CRHS with a score of 161.
Logan had a 163 for second and the Tigers came in third with a 164 just one shot behind the Wildcats.
The Tigers were led by lone senior Jake Workman with a 37. He was followed by freshman Austin Bledsoe with a 40, Braden Dickerson with a 41 and Tanner Meade with a 46. Junior Austin Evans had a 51 and Dakota Saunders, another CRHS junior, had a 55. Sophomore Dylan Brown finished with a 52.
Logan was led by Chase Preston’s 36. He was followed by Maddie Trent’s 42, Tommy Adkins’ 42, Alex Toler’s 42, Jared Adkins’ 46 and Thompson’s 50. Scott was led by John Butcher, who fired a 37.
“We performed OK for the first time out. Jake has to be rock solid every time out and lead our younger players until they can adjust to high school golf. Jake is a four-year vet with state tournament experience and we expect good things from him. We have some talented young kids, but they need time to grow and mature,” Chapmanville coach Tommy Kirk said.
Next up for CRHS was a match on Wednesday against Herbert Hoover at Shawnee.
Chapmanville has the Capital City Classic on Friday at Big Bend.
