The Chapmanville Regional High School golf team simply clubbed the Capital Cougars earlier this week as the Tigers won by a whopping 56 strokes in a match at Big Bend.
Chapmanville won with a 186. Capital shot a 242.
The Tigers were led by Jacob Workman, who had an even par round of 35. Austin Bledsoe finished with a 46, while Tanner Meade had a 52 and Braden Dickerson and Dakota Saunders each had a 53. Dylan Brown shot a 54 and Austin Evans a 63.
CRHS coach Tommy Kirk said he was happy to get such a resounding victory over a Class AAA school.
“We are hitting the ball better but we have to learn to score. Most of our freshmen have trouble around the greens but we are improving,” Kirk said.
Chapmanville was scheduled to face off with Tug Valley on Thursday evening at the Logan Country Club in Chapmanville.
