CHAPMANVILLE - West Chapmanville Elementary School is set to bring "Seussical Jr." to the stage for multiple showings.
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in "Seussical Jr." Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Directors Katie Murray and DJ Conley and music director Emily Lambert said they are excited to bring this show on stage.
"This is the second production that West Chapmanville's Little Tiger Theatre has produced," Conley said. "This is a big step from last year. Our show last year, 'School House Rock,' went very well, but we are adding even more this year, including a phenomenal set and gorgeous costumes. We are very thankful that WCES has allowed us bring the magic of theatre to life."
The production will take place at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 20-21 and April 27-28, with a show at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the Coalfield Jamboree. Tickets are $5 for kids and $7 for everyone ages 13 and up.
