KISTLER, W.Va. — William Joseph “Doty” Gollihue, 77, of Kistler, joined his loving wife in Heaven Sunday, June 16, 2013, from the home of his son at Naugatuck after a long illness.

Born April 11, 1936, at Willard, Ky., he was a son of the late Peter and Mabel Jacobs Gollihue. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 35 years, Betty Jean Gibson Gollihue; two brothers, James and Pete Gollihue, and one sister, Margie Biddler.

Doty was a retired UMWA coal miner and attended Kistler Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching Braves baseball and Westerns. Doty loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his four children, Betty Jean (Doc) Harrison of Macon, N.C., Jody Gollihue (Josette Nash) of Nashville, Tenn., Missy (Joe) Bailey of San Clemente, Calif., and Rev. Robbie (Stacy) Gollihue of Naugatuck; two brothers, Harry (Pauline) Gollihue of New Jersey and DJ (Donna Gail) of Kentucky; four sisters, Mary Lou Wingler and Teenie (Larry) Browning, both of West Virginia, and Geraldine (Richard) Smith and Joann (Paul) Knierm, both of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Brittany Gollihue of West Virginia, Elizabeth (Brandon) Raines of North Carolina, Cole Bailey of California, Adrianna Gollihue of Tennessee, and Isaac, Joseph and Jacob Gollihue of Naugatuck; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Chambers of West Virginia, and Aubrie and Skyler Raines of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relative and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Kistler Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Gollihue and Jody Gollihue officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

YUMA, W.Va. — Birdie Jewell Rainwater, 69, of Yuma Camp, departed this life Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her residence.

Born March 15, 1944, at Sand Creek in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Stella Rakes Williams. Also preceding her in death were her grandparents; spouse; four brothers: Arthur, Clifford, Wilbur and Ervin Williams; one half-brother, David Wilson, and one-half-sister, Barbara O’Neil.

Birdie was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish her memories include four sons, Ricky (Viola) Rainwater, Leonard (Rebecca) Rainwater, Randy Rainwater, and Dow (Melissa) Rainwater; daughter, Susan (Rob) Davis, six brothers, Danny Williams, Lester (Jeanie) Williams, Earl (Brenda) Williams, Virgil (Mary) Williams, Curlie (Patricia) Williams and Freeman (Pat) Williams; five half-brothers, Rodney (Teresa) Williams, Ed Jr. (Melissa) Williams, Steve (Maureen) Wilson, Larry (Sherri) Wilson and Roger Wilson; six sisters, Arlene (Virgil) Knipp, Kathy (Steven) Trimble, Brenda (Gary) Griffin, Pearl Bradley, Linda Hager and Lucille Williams; five half-sisters, Joyce (Bobby) Rollyson, Jewell (John) Short, Peggy (Donnie) Woolum, Rose (Michael) Keith and Stella (Eddie) Hager; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Our family would like to give a special thank-you to our friends Brenda and Stephanie Baisden.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

The family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
