Local law enforcement officers have had their hands full recently with fraud-related arrests, according to police reports.
• Wesley Allen Hensley, 23, of Chapmanville, was arrested by Logan County Sheriff's Deputy B.E. Ferrell for fraud and grand larceny on Oct. 30.
According to police reports, on October 28, the victim filed a complaint against Hensley claiming he had stolen several items from her residence, including a Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun worth $500; a 2008 Polaris Outlaw ATV worth $10,000; two rings worth $150 and a computer worth $450, and had allegedly used her automated teller (ATM) card without her permission.
The victim provided bank documents and ATM security photographs to back up her claims, allegedly showing Hensley withdrawing $100 on Oct. 11 and $120 on Oct. 20.
A warrant was issued for Hensley's arrest and he was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 4:20 p.m.
• Charles Canterbury, 24, of Pecks Mill, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper T.D. Boggs for fraud on Oct. 29.
According to police reports, on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., the officer received a call about a stolen vehicle in the Omar area.
The victim reportedly told the officer that he was told by another person that his vehicle was stolen from his place of work.
The report said the officer then found the vehicle at S&S Recycling where an employee said Canterbury had sold them the vehicle and the employee gave the trooper a copy of the paperwork.
The officer then spoke to Canterbury who wrote a hand-written statement saying he had sold the vehicle to S&S Recycling in the community of Cow Creek.
Canterbury was released on bond following arraignment.
• Xzambria Jarika Bryant, 28, of Holden, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.K. Harris for fraud on Oct. 28.
According to police reports, on Dec. 21, the officer's investigation revealed that Bryant allegedly filed a false police report in order to defraud the victim of a television set which the victim owned.
"The investigation revealed (the victim) was awarded the television set by a court order signed by Judge E.H. O'Briant. (Bryant), in an attempt to maintain possession of the television set, executed a fraudulent scheme and reported the television stolen," the report states.
Bryant was booked at the regional jail at 6:10 p.m.
