Area police make more drug busts

Area law enforcement officers have made several drug arrests recently according to police reports.

• Jermaine Copa Clemons, 33, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County, by the West Virginia State Police for delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy on June 26.

According to reports, on June 24, Clemons allegedly delivered a controlled substance with William Thomas Lawson Jr. and Roberta Lawson.

"During this conspiracy the defendant did deliver crack-cocaine to a cooperating individual working with officers," the report states. "During this investigation the pre-photocopied and rewarded money was recovered from the defendant which was used in the transaction described above."

He was booked at the regional jail at 4:15 p.m.

• William Thomas Lawson Jr., 45, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County, by the Logan County Sheriff's Department, for conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance on June 26.

According to police reports, in November of 2008 the defendant allegedly sold ten yellow tablets identified as Oxycodone to a confidential informant for $450. Another criminal complaint states that Lawson conspired with Jermaine Clemons to deliver crack cocaine to a confidential informant at his residence.

"The accused stated that he had been smoking crack earlier in the evening," the second report states.

He was booked at the regional jail at 4:15 p.m.

• Roberta Angeline Lawson, 33, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County for conspiracy on June 26.

According to police reports, Lawson allegedly conspired with Jermaine Copa Clemons and William T. Lawson Jr. to deliver a controlled substance to a confidential informant in exchange for cash.

She was booked at the regional jail at 4:15 p.m.

• Rebecca Ann Workman, 33, of Seth, was arrested in Logan County by the WVSP for possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication and obstructing an officer on June 25.

According to police reports, on June 24, Sgt. Brian Brown and Tpr. D.C. Moore were conducting a traffic stop on a Chrysler PT Cruiser and allegedly found Workman, the passenger, intoxicated.

"These officers did observe several used needles inside the vehicle," the report states. "The defendant was then asked to exit the vehicle. Upon exiting she appeared to be unsteady and spoke with a slurred, slow speech. She attempted to enter the vehicle and retrieve a cup from inside. This officer then got the cup from the vehicle and noticed there was no liquid inside it. It was found to contain a pill bottle belonging to (another individual) for Gabapentin. There were approximately 12 Gabapentin and three to four Clonazepam pills inside. The defendant was then placed under arrest. While at the WVSP detachment the defendant attempted to take several of the pills while inside the processing room. The defendant again gained control of the pills and had taken the three to four Clonazapam."

She was booked at the regional jail at 1:15 a.m.

• Pamela Sue Dailey, 28, of Branchland, was arrested in Logan County by Officers J.A. Lyall, J.N. Sheppard of the Logan County Sheriff's Department and Officers R. Adkins and Artie Willis of the Logan Police Department, for possession of a controlled substance, driving suspended no insurance, improper registration, obstructing an officer and leaving the scene of an accident on June 12.

According to reports, the officers initially pulled over a blue Ford Ranger believed to have picked up two females who left the scene of an accident at the exit ramp near Route 73. The deputies asked the females to step out of the vehicle and asked the defendant if she was the driver of the Chevy Blazer that was found on the side of the road near Holden.

"The defendant told the officers that she wasn't driving the vehicle," the report states. "Upon further investigation, talking to the defendant, the defendant finally admitted to driving the abandoned vehicle. While the defendant was detained in the officer's cruiser, the officers found one and a half Fuerocet, one Primarin and one half Xanaflex in the defendant's purse. Upon further investigation, the officers also discovered the defendant was driving on a suspended license, the vehicle was not insured and the registration did not match the defendant's vehicle."

She was booked at the regional jail at 6:19 p.m.

• Kenneth Jonale Ross, 22, of Huntington, was arrested in Logan County, by Patrolmen Mark Dickerson, Kevin Conley and Artie Willis of the Logan PD, for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, public intoxication and obstructing an officer on June 6.

According to police reports, the officers responded to a reported fight on June 6 and found seven males standing on the sidewalk drinking alcohol. When they told the suspects to place their hands on the rear of a cruiser, one officer saw Ross allegedly "placing something in the front of his pants."

"At that time, this officer placed Ross onto a parked vehicle, using an arm bar for officer safety," the report states. "Ross attempted to jerk away from this officer and he was then placed in handcuffs. Ross was then escorted to the front of the cruiser to be video taped by the officer's in-car camera. Upon a Terry Frisk, this officer felt a large item in the front of Ross' pants which was later found to be a single zip lock baggy with nine individual bags of a green leafy bud substance which field tested positive for marijuana/THC content."

The officer reportedly smelled alcohol and burnt marijuana emitting from the defendant. The total weight of the recovered marijuana was 12.8 grams.

He was booked at the regional jail at 1:30 a.m.
