Born October 12, 1937, in Holden, she was a daughter of the late Oakley “Oakie” and Loraine Stapleton Gallion. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Martin; son Martin “Totem” Ward; two brothers, Billy and Clyde, and one sister, Mildred.
Betty was employed by Island Creek Coal Company until her retirement. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church of Lexington, 5&6 Holden Freewill Baptist Church and the Woman’s Club of Holden.
Survivors include three brothers, Bobby (Betty) Gallion of Whitman, Sam “Chee Chee” Gallion of Chicago, Ill., and Wilson (Rose) Gallion of New Hampshire, and a host of many loving friends, nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the 5&6 Holden Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Light Officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may call on the family from noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
