BHCS 2012 Honor Graduates

CHAUNCEY — Beth Haven Christian School will host their 2012 Graduation Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the school gymnasium. Guest speaker will be Tim Secrist, member of BHCS Board of Directors and pastor of Crooked Creek Church of Christ.

Leading the 2012 class is valedictorian Cory Hill Robinson, son of Mike and Valerie Robinson of Chapmanville. Cory has a 3.97 GPA and serves as president of the BHCS chapter of the American Christian Honor Society. He served the school yearbook committee and student council as school chaplain. Cory leads the varsity basketball and track team and the 2011 soccer team. He has received the BHCS Team Player Award for 2012. Other achievements include 2012 Vesta Varney Bible Knowledge Award, AACS National Leadership Conference and listed on the USAA National Honor Roll. Cory has been honored with the W.Va. Top of the Mountain recognition awarded by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin for ranking in the upper 10 percent of West Virginia graduating seniors based on ACT composite score. Cory is a member of the West Logan Church of God. He has earned the Promise scholarship and will be attending Lee University in the fall where he has earned The Centennial Academic Scholarship Award. Cory plans to pursue a career in psychology and music.

Class Salutatorian is Hannah Louise Elliott, daughter of Jonah and Lydia of Peach Creek. Hannah has a GPA of 3.84 and is a member of the American Association of Christian School Honor Society. She serves on the yearbook committee and is listed on the USAA National Honor Roll. Hannah is a member of Cornerstone Family Fellowship Church of Whitman. She will be attending Liberty University in the fall where she has been awarded the LU Academic Scholarship, LU Champion Scholarship and the Pastor Alumni Scholarship. Hannah will also receive a James “Buck” Harless Foundation Scholarship. Hannah plans to complete a bachelor’s degree with major biology.

David Blake Fry will be the class Honorarian. He is the son of Wayne and Tine Fry of Stollings. Blake is BHCS class President and maintains a GPA of 3.45. Achievements include AACS Leadership Conference and USAA National Honor Roll. Blake played varsity basketball and track and played on the 2011 soccer team. He received recognition for West Virginia Christian Education Association All State Basketball. Blake is a member of the 5&6 Holden Freewill Baptist Church. He has earned the Promise Scholarship, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Foundation Scholarship and the CEDAR Scholarship. Blake plans to attend Southern in the fall to begin a career in the medical field.
