CHAPMANVILLE - The Man High School baseball team is just one loss from elimination.

The Van Bulldogs blanked the Hillbillies 2-0 in Wednesday night's Class A sectional tourney game at Chapmanville's Ted Ellis Field to put themselves into the driver's seat.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again tonight at 6 p.m., weather permitting, with the sectional title on the line for Van.

If Man is able to beat Van the two teams would play a winner-take-all final on Friday night.

Man's Trevor Corns pitched one of his best performances in his prep career last night. He struck out nine batters and allowed just five hits and two walks.

Both of the Bulldogs' runs were unearned.

Van scored one run in the first inning and added an insurance run in the sixth thanks to several Man errors.

Jimmy Joe Gibson had two hits for the Billies in the losing cause while Duke Vance and Jeremey Hatfield each added hits.

The Bulldogs have beaten Man in all three meetings this season.
