The Man High School boys’ basketball team continued its hot streak with Thursday night’s easy 79-38 win at Van.

The Hillbillies, ranked No. 8 in the state in Class A, improved to 15-5 on the season and won for the eighth time in their last nine games. The only defeat during the span was an 83-80 overtime setback to Gilbert on Feb. 11.

Man was led by senior center T.J. Hoosier, who had 17 points and 20 rebounds.

Junior Seth Hainer, a Logan High School transfer, tallied 14 points, while fellow junior Jordan Simpson had 10 for the night.

Coty Crum and Bill Deel added seven points each for the Billies while Adam Copley and Chris Toler netted six apiece. Cody Frye and Robert Caudill had four each. Chris Caserta had three and Shane Browning one.

Brandon Elswick led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Aaron Bias had eight and Tyler Gunnoe and Justin Lambert contributed seven points each. Matt Doss had four and Chris Sanders two.

Man led 19-8 after one quarter, 44-16 at the half and 62-25 after three.

The Billies then outpointed Van 17-13 in the fourth period to set the final score.

The Billies are scheduled to return to the hardwood tonight at home against Class A sectional rival Burch. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse. Man then closes out the regular season on Tuesday at Class AA county rival Chapmanville.
