CHAPMANVILLE – The Chapmanville Regional High School volleyball team is quietly putting together another good season under head coach Angie Willis.

The Lady Tigers currently stand at 15-5 after topping Tolsia on Tuesday night in four sets.

Last Saturday, Chapmanville hosted a tournament and won its pool play by winning matches against Logan, Poca, Sherman and Wyoming East and losing two to Sissonville in tourney play before placing third out of 10 teams.

In previous matches, the Lady Tigers won for the second time this season over Tug Valley and also got a win over Point Pleasant.

Chapmanville has lost this season to Sissonville three times and also to Herbert Hoover and Mingo Central.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to return to action tonight at home against county rival Logan. Match time is 6.

Coach Willis said she has liked her team’s play of late.

“We have had some young players to step up and play well when they have been needed,” she said. “Hayley Justice came off the bench to play well against Tolsia. Katelynn Hall, Alyssa Bailey, Dara Berry, Hillary Hainer are hitting well. Lauryn Easterling, Allison Evans and Tiara Pridemore are covering the floor well. Our serving has improved and Kylie Clay’s along with others’ serving has helped us.”
