Cops kept busy with arrests

Local police officers have made more theft related arrests in recent weeks according to law enforcement reports.

• Glen Tracy Long, 40, of Chapmanville, was arrested in Logan County by Deputy D.E. Brown of the Logan County Sheriff's Department for transferring and receiving stolen property on July 8.

According to police reports, Long was in possession of articles that were stolen in a burglary at Big Creek.

"(Long) had possession of a Dell computer, pioneer DVD player as well as other stolen articles with a value of over $1,000," the report states.

The items were reported stolen from the residence of the victim.

A warrant was issued for Long's arrest and he was taken into custody and was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 12:29 a.m.

• Jody Brandon Blankenship, 26, of Greenville, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. Dave Walls and Patrolman A.P. Williams of the Man Police Department for grand larceny on July 7.

• Mindy Davonne Blankenship, 20, of Greenville, was arrested in Logan County by Sgt. Walls and Patrolman Williams for grand larceny on July 7.

According to police reports, on Dec. 2 the duo allegedly "removed all the contents of a furnished apartment that he (Jody) was renting" from the victim.

"The items included two coffee tables and one mirror, shower curtains, toilet rug set, 12 bath towels, 12 hand towels, 12 wash cloths (bathroom) one box spring mattress, two sets of sheets, one end table, an iron, one Hoover vacuum cleaner....one microwave oven, one set of dishes — eight in total, one set of silverware, one coffee maker, one hand mixer, one deep fryer, one can opener, 12 dish towels, two iron skillets, one set of bakery pans, one set of cookware — 12 in total, and three throw rungs ... all of these items were taken from an apartment rented by the accused," the report states. "The victim told the officers the items taken totaled about $1,500.”

Warrants were issued for their arrest and both were taken into custody and booked at the regional jail at 11:37 p.m.

• Stevina Earnestine Workman, 26, of Switzer, was arrested in Logan County by Trooper E.B. McClung of the West Virginia State Police for transferring and receiving stolen property, defective equipment, no insurance and no MVI sticker on July 4.

According to police reports, the officer was patrolling in Mt. Gay on July 4, when he saw a Chevy Cavalier with a busted windshield and pulled it over.

"Upon speaking with the defendant, she advised that she did not have operators, insurance and hat she could not find the registration," the report states. "While speaking with the defendant, the undersigned officer noticed that the defendant did not have her seatbelt on and that the MVI sticker was fraudulent and did not belong on said vehicle."

According to the West Virginia State Police dispatch, the registration plate was stolen.

She was booked at the regional jail at 11:30 p.m.

• Jennifer Kirsten Trent, 18, residence not listed, was arrested in Mingo County by the Mingo County Sheriff's Department for daytime burglary, breaking and entering, petit larceny and destruction of property on July 7. She was booked at the regional jail at 5:45 p.m.

• Okey Thomas Newsome, 48, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County on a bench warrant from Cabell County for being a fugitive from justice, forgery, uttering, grand larceny, battery and transferring or receiving stolen property on June 15. He was booked at the regional jail at 12:54 p.m. No further information was available.
