Cottrill, Williamson honored as Cats rout Winfield

The Class AAA No. 1-ranked Logan High School basketball team ran its record to 11-2 on the season with Friday night’s 101-76 win over Winfield at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.

Logan’s Noah Cottrill and Paul Williamson were honored before the game.

Cottrill was honored for being a McDonald’s High School All-American nominee while Williamson was honored for recently scoring his 1,000th point.

Both had double-doubles for the game.

Cottrill netted 39 points, dished out 12 assists and made nine 3-pointers.

Williamson poured in 25 points and had 11 rebounds.

Deyonta Coleman added 13 points for the Wildcats.

Bryce Dalton had seven, Jordan Canada and Drew Vess had five each, Michael Greene had three and Gary Miller and Stevie Browning had two apiece.

Logan led Winfield 29-24 after one quarter, 58-48 at the half and 84-60 after three quarters.

Logan then outpointed the Generals 27-16 in the fourth to turn the game into a blowout.

The Wildcats made 18 3-pointers on the night.

Adam Kline paced Winfield (8-5) with 21 points.

Austin Lewis netted 17, Rickie Cantrell 12 and Garron Kessler 10.

Logan swept the season series with Winfield, also winning 87-83 earlier in the season on the road.

The Cats return to action on Tuesday at county rival Chapmanville. Logan then plays in the Beckley tourney next weekend.
