It was a successful opener for the Logan-based West Virginia Dream AAU girls’ basketball team, which beat the Tri-County Warriors of Concord, N.C., 56-23 on Wednesday in the first game of the USBA National Tournament at North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Kyra Cline led the Dream in scoring with 16 points as she sank four 3-pointers.
Monica Mitchell tallied a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. She was followed by Hannah Tothe with 11 points, Kristin DesRocher with 8 and Kelsey Kirk with 7.
“It was a phenomenal job by all of our girls on both ends of the floor,” Dream coach Mike Tothe said.
The Dream, made up of seven girls from Logan High School, one from Chapmanville Regional and one from Mingo Central, is scheduled to play again on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against Anderson, S.C., and 3:45 p.m. on Thursday against the Cincinnati Heat.
