Dream team takes third tourney title

The West Virginia Dream 16-and-under AAU girls’ basketball team captured another tournament championship over the weekend at the North American Youth Sports Hamlin Spring Tourney at Lincoln County High School.

This is the third tournament title this spring and it brings the team’s current record to 19-4.

In the semifinals the Dream beat Lincoln County 55-28.

Kyra Cline led the Dream with 20 points. She was followed by Kelsey Kirk with 13 points, Hannah Tothe with 11 points, Hannah Adkins with seven points and Katie Kirk with four points.

In the finals the Dream beat St. Albans 44-31.

Monica Mitchell led the Dream with 13 points. She was followed by Cline with 12, Tothe with 11 and Katie Kirk with four. Kelsey Kirk and Adkins had two each.

The team was missing players Chrissy Farmer and Kristin DesRocher.

The Dream’s next tourney is this coming weekend at the Runnin’ Rebel Shootout at Riverside High School.
