Logan improved to 17-9 on the seaon, winning for the 16th time in its last 18 games.
The Wildcats are scheduled to host George Washington (21-10) tonight at Roger Gertz Field in Game 2 of the sectionals.
Game time is set for 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Fleming improved to 6-2 on the season by picking up last night’s win. He allowed just one South Charleston player to make it as far as third base. That came in the third inning, when he got Josh Burdette to pop out, stranding Reece Ripley at third.
Fleming allowed just three hits picked off Burdette in the first inning.
Logan led 1-0 in the first as Ryan Butcher drove in David Brown with an RBI single.
Josh Hudson was the starting and losing pitcher for South Charleston. He walked four in the first four innings and two more in the third. The last two were most costly.
Timmy Rein was issued one of the free passes and ended up on third after a pair of wild pitches.
Brown later walked to put runners at the corners.
Then in typical Logan fashion, the Wildcats converted a forced steal play as Rein stole home to make it 2-0.
Then in the fourth inning Rein’s RBI double put the Cats ahead 3-0.
Fleming then retired nine out of the last 12 batters to finish off the win.
Logan had seven hits in the game.
Brown is expected to take to the mound tonight for Logan against the Patriots.
South Charleston is then set to play at GW in Game 3 of the sectionals on Wednesday night.
