Gov., First Lady to display Military Recognition Tree

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin are inviting all West Virginians to honor the State’s military men and women by contributing photos for the “Military Recognition” tree. Those wishing to participate are asked to send in photos of their loved ones or friends who have served or are serving in the military. The photos will be displayed on the “Military Recognition” tree which will be located in the Governor’s Reception Room of the State Capitol Building during the holiday season.

“Whether serving here at home or half-way around the world, our military men and women have answered the call to duty time and again, ensuring our safety and our freedom. I’m grateful for their selfless service and I’m proud of the strong traditions they represent,” Gov. Tomblin said. “This year’s ‘Military Recognition’ tree provides us with the opportunity to showcase our gratitude to the men and women who’ve sacrificed for us and our country.”

“With so many West Virginian’s serving in our nation’s military, it’s important for us to keep in mind the families who wait patiently for their loved ones to return,” First Lady Tomblin said. “I believe this year’s ‘Military Recognition’ tree will not only show our support for these families, it will honor those who have served and continue to serve-here at home and abroad.”

All photos, must be accompanied with a form and tag that can be downloaded by visiting www.governor.wv.gov and clicking on the Governor and First Lady’s Military Recognition Tree icon in the lower right corner of the site. All submissions must be received by November 23, 2012.

Photos will not be returned — they will be kept at the Governor’s Mansion.
