CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Howard Lee Adkins, 92, of Chapmanville, was born February 20, 1919 at Latrobe, a son of the late Earl and Lillie Lunsford Adkins. Mr. Adkins departed this life Monday, July 25, 2011, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Also preceding him in death was his wife, Vernis Jarrell Adkins, and son, Howard Lee Adkins Jr.

Mr. Adkins was a retired coal miner and of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Vance of Chapmanville; two sons: Bob Adkins of Chapmanville, and Richard Adkins of Florida; one sister, Margaret Adkins of Logan; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at noon Thursday, July 28, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Mr. Paul Hill and Mr. Earl Hill, ministers officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
