CHAPMANVILLE — Authorities are still investigating a family tragedy over the holidays that apparently was a murder-suicide.

Authorities say they believe Otis Bowling shot his wife, Emma Lou Bowling, Wednesday night at Bowling Alley in Chapmanville.

A 911 call about a shooting went into the 911 dispatch around 8:30 p.m. on November 25. Members of the Chapmanville Police Department and the West Virginia State Police arrived shortly thereafter to investigate the double shooting.

Otis Bowling was in his 80s and Emma Lou Bowling was in her 70s, www.wsaz.com reported. One first responder told The Logan Banner that the incident was shocking to everyone involved.

Otis Bowling was reportedly dead on arrival, but Emma Bowling was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center and then on to Charleston Area Medical Center by helicopter for emergency trauma treatment. She died Thursday, according to reports.

Sgt. D.A. Browning with the Chapmanville Police Department told WSAZ News that the murder-suicide was a "shock to everyone."
