Born July 19, 1932, he was a son of the late John Marion and Martha Farley Mullins of Ferrellsburg. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Minnis Clay, Jasper Jenkins, George Thomas, Ona Taylor and Vernon Mullins; sisters, Norma Mullins and Roma Elkins, and son-in-law, Todd Bender.
Jim was a retired conductor from CSX Transportation with 50 years of service, a veteran of Korean War, a member of Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, a Scout Master, Weeblow Leader of Pack 298. He served as the Madison Buddy League Basketball president for 40 years and coached the VFW 5578 basketball team for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Donna Lambert Mullins; son, John Marion (Krista) Mullins III of East Bank; daughters, Michele Mullins Bender of Charleston and Sonja (Ed) Miller of Brunswick, Ohio; grandchildren, Nina Mullins (Chase) Foster of Cabin Creek, Teela Miller of Brunswick, and Austin Williams and Chase Elswick of East Bank; great-grandchildren, Tiara and Eddie Miller of Brunswick; special grand dog, Rosie; brothers, Standard Mullins of Chapmanville, and Ira Mullins of West Hamlin; sisters, Iona Mae Richardson of Huntington, Orpha Ray Kirk of Ferrellsburg, and Flossie Fay Davis of Detroit, Mich.

Flowers will gratefully be accepted, loved and enjoyed but, because his love for the youth of the community in scouting, basketball and beauty pageants and to honor the city for naming the Civic Center to honor his memory, memorial contributions in his memory would be appreciated by family and the city of Madison be used to maintain the Madison Civic Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 6, at the Handley Funeral Home at Danville with Kenneth Mitchell, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens at Madison with Military Graveside Rites by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison.
