Born August 16, 1926, in Logan County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Florence Fleming Workman. Also preceded him in death was one son, Brady Dale; two brothers, Leonard and Jesse; three sisters, Louise, Lucille and Bess, and, just recently, one granddaughter, Michelle Workman Bell.
Poppy was a retired coal miner. He and his wife formed and sang with the Jericho Travelers Trio for many years and was a member of the Carroll Community Church in Hamlin.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Daisy; two sons, Mike (Mary) of Chapmanville and Danny (Emma) of Wakeman, Ohio; one daughter, Linda (Roger) Wilson of Ocala, Fla.; seven step-children, Caroline (Kelly) Bryant of Chapmanville, and Donna (Robin Drain) Triska, Darlene Warner, Rick (Carlena) Mullins, all of Huntington, and Kathy (Mike) Gustwiller, Glendene Andricks and Vivean (Gordon) Sexton, all of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 13 great-step-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 23, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with his nephew, Rev. Arnold Adams, and friend, Rev. Roger Roberts, officiating. The Farley Family will be singing. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Grandsons and step-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
