Major Michael F. Jarrells has retired from active duty effective June 1, 2012. Jarrells served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and served during operations that liberated or helped maintain liberty in Panama, Kuwait, Somalia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haiti, Kosovo, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Pakistan, Yemen and Libya. He retired from his position as the Information and Knowledge Manager for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Headquarters located in Brussels, Belgium.
Jarrells is currently enjoying his retirement at the ancestral family home in Chapmanville.
He is the son of Agie and Carol Jarrells of Verdunville. His wife, Melody, is the daughter of Thomas and Frankie Workman of Stollings. The couple has a daughter, Alexis, and a son, Benjamin.
Jarrells is a 1988 graduate of Logan Senior High School.
