The Logan High School Prayer Club was able to distribute 150 food boxes with a ham or chicken in them before the Christmas holiday. With the assistance of several community businesses and individuals, the Logan Middle School Prayer Club and Logan Grade School staff and students, the LHS Prayer Club gave out more food boxes to the Logan area’s less fortunate than any other time in the past.

“It was very evident that there was a greater need this year than in previous ones, due to the number of applications that were received,” said John E. Godby, adviser to the Prayer Club. “The economic conditions in the coal fields are very poor, thus people are having a great need for the essentials of life, mainly food.”

The Prayer Club was also able to give toys and blankets to those families with those type needs.

If you would like to assist the Logan High School Prayer Club with food or a monetary donation, which helps buy the hams for the food boxes, you may bring food items to Logan High’s main office during regular school hours or send love gifts to the following address: Logan High School Prayer Club, One Wildcat Way, Logan, WV 25601.

The Prayer Club is planning an Easter Can Food Project for the month of March.

“Thanks to everyone that helped make a lot of families have a merrier Christmas this year,” said Godby.
