WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Members of Logan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, an affiliate of AWVHA (Association of West Virginia Hospital Auxiliaries) attended the annual state meeting at the Greenbrier September 26-28, 2012.
During the meeting, workshops were presented on Generational Differences, Donate for Life (organs), No Such Thing As Bad Girls @ the Margin, Affordable Healthcare Act, Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease, Keeping Private Information Confidential, Basic Communication Skills for Effective Dissemination, Visual Merchandising 101 for the Gift Shop, Acute Coronary Syndrome, How Utilizing Hospital Volunteers Contributes to Financial Success to a Hospital, and at the closing meeting,
Dr. David Chaffin, Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine at John D Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University, presented a program on Drug Addiction in Pregnancy: An Appalachian Epidemic.
An awards luncheon was held in the Colonial Hall on Thursday and the Logan Auxiliary, a member of the Southeastern District, won two awards. The award for SE District Volunteer of the Year 2012 was won by Logan Auxilian Alice Cheek, for her dedication, loyalty, hard work and years of service to the LRMC Auxiliary. The LRMC Auxiliary also received the SE District Project of the Year 2012 for their program, Welcome New Arrival, which is a gift pack presented to each newborn baby at LRMC. The award was presented to the chairperson of the project, Beverly Roark, who is also the new president of the Logan Auxiliary. The Logan Regional Medical Center Hospital was recognized for Organ Donation, by Holly Mitchell, WV Director, Donate for Life.
Door prizes at the luncheon were won by Logan Auxilians Beverly Roark, Betty Toney, Nora Willis and Janice Barker. A business meeting was held in the Greenbrier Theater on Friday to elect new State Officers for the upcoming two years. Elected for President was Dianna Simmons; President-Elect was Anne McKnight; Vice President was Koneeda Devrick; Secretary was Ginger Aulick; Treasurer was Jeannette Alexander and Southeaster District Counselor was Gay Cook of the Logan Auxiliary.
High Tea was served on Thursday evening in the Main Dining Hall where the Greenbrier Waltz was performed by two members of their staff.
