Baptist Help Center
The First Baptist Church of Man would like to publicly recognize the area churches who donate money and manual labor to operate the Baptist Help Center.
We serve approximately 150 families each month. It seems to be increasing as the economy worsens.
Again we say “thanks a million” to the following churches:
Bethel Baptist Church of Lorado
Bruce McDonald Methodist Church of Man
Freewill Baptist Church of Kistler
Mallory Baptist Church of Mallory
The Nazarene Church of Man
St. Edmonds Catholic Church of Man
First Baptist Church of Man and other anonymous donors.

Donel Kinnard Memorial Veterans Cemetery
This Veterans Day, I’m thinking about something really special we did this year in West Virginia when we opened the Donel Kinnard Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Institute.
Don was a dedicated service member and an equally dedicated veteran – fighting for every veteran at every turn. This cemetery is a fitting tribute to him. For generations to come, family members and loved ones – and all West Virginians – will have a peaceful place to remember and pay their respects.
As a veteran, I can think of no greater honor for those who’ve gone before us. I thank Dow Chemical for donating the land, and I thank our elected officials – especially Senator Jay Rockefeller, for working hard with our Vietnam Veterans Chapter 308 and other Veterans Organizations, throughout the state to make this awe-inspiring cemetery possible.

Remembering and honoring veterans is something we should day every day, not just on Veterans Day. West Virginia is doing just that with the Donel Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.
This cemetery not only honors Don Kinnard, but it will also allow us to pay tribute to many other West Virginia Veterans. Having a final resting place for veterans is important and it is the right thing to do.
I want to thank Senator Rockefeller for never giving up on this project and working for six years to see it come to fruition. We all worked together long and hard to make this project a success.
The completed cemetery is breathtakingly beautiful whether or not you are a veteran. I am so thankful that we can now properly pay our respects to the West Virginia veterans we have lost today and every day.
