When young Eric Morris purchased his ticket for the Rubber Ducky Race fundraiser of the Lions Club of Logan, he had no idea he would become the annual event's youngest winner.

"Well, it's better for him to win it than a lawyer," noted Lions Club member Roger Perry who sold the lad the winning ticket.

"That's the person I got my ticket off of," Morris said of Perry when he gathered his check for $1,000.

Morris, who is a third grade student in elementary school also appeared on stage this year as a performer in two different productions of The Aracoma Story Inc., being a cast member in both "’Lil Abner" and "Honky Tonk Angels."

Morris said he spent a lot of time on stage this summer and that he got his ticket one night prior to a show.

"He may be a future Lion someday," quipped Perry of Morris.

"He could not believe it when he won," said Eric's grandfather. The grandparents took Eric to the Lions Club's August 17 meeting so he could collect on the grand prize, as his mother was at work that evening.

Perry said this year's Rubber Duck Race went by smoothly, however this year Lion Glen Ables wound up in the river while last year's adventurer Tom Acquire managed to stay ashore.
