The other day, I stopped by the Movie Gallery up at the Fountain Place Mall to check out some horror films to try and get in the Halloween spirit. While I was there, I ran into local musician and longtime friend Aaron White of the group Foz.

White told me there is an upcoming music venue in Logan that will be a lot of fun for a worthy cause.

“There will be a show (Friday) at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College from 5 to 9 p.m., sponsored by Southern and Hapin. The purpose of the show is to get donations for the Toys for Tots program and for Mr. (John) Godby’s annual canned food drive,” White said.

The show will have a pretty good lineup for music fans.

Here is the tentative schedule for the acts:

• 5 p.m.-5:35 — Swamp Rat

• 5:40-6:15 — Academy Drive

• 6:20- 6:55 — Derek Bowen

• 7-7:35 — Days to Come

• 7:40-8:15 — Foz

• And from 8:20-9 p.m., the audience can meet the bands in the matinee.

And as the late Billy Mays used to say, BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

There will be an acoustic show on Friday at the Logan Cafe. White will be hosting that one and the acts Deerbourne and Swamp Rat will be performing. There promises to be more of such venues at the Logan Cafe, by the way.

“My band will be doing an acoustic set there on November 20,” White told me. “Every Friday, they have a new acoustic show, and the food is great.”

Now there’s a friend who knows me...

When Aaron and his bandmates are not performing or working day jobs, they often work on scheduling shows across our area, as well as trying to find venues to perform themselves. Foz can be reached online at www.myspace.com.
