MARY HICKMAN
PEACH CREEK, W.Va. — Mary Hickman, 86, of Peach Creek, departed this life Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born January 17, 1926, at War, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Watson Bennett. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Edward; her one and only daughter, Carolyn Bennett Smoot; four brothers, Major, Matthew, Roy and William Bennett, and one sister, Queen Thomas.
Mary was of the Baptist faith and a former member of the Cole Street Missionary Baptist Church in Aracoma. She attended PRIDE of Logan and was lifelong resident of Peach Creek.
Surviving to cherish her memory include one son, Kenneth Hickman (companion Sabrina Day) of Peach Creek; two granddaughters, Caroline Smoot, Esq., of Washington, DC and Kayla Hickman of Charleston; one grandson, Kenneth Hickman of Charleston; two great-nephews, Herbert (Louise) Wagner of Middletown, Ohio, and Willie Wagner of Columbus, Ohio; one great-niece, Harriett Clemons of Dunbar; son-in-law, Douglas Smoot of Institute; trusted longtime feline friend, Shelia, and a host of other family members and friends.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, August 4, at Chatman Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Leroy Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Guyan Memorial Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
