A main water line break in a 12-inch pipe at Deskins Addition yesterday afternoon caused the PSD to issue the boil water notice for all customers in the Whitman, Holden and Route 44 areas. The advisory was issued early this morning.
“Bring the water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water,” the press release from the PSD said. “We will inform customers of this area when they no longer need to boil their water.
“Please share this information with all the other people who are customers in this area, especially those who may not have received this notice.”
Melinda Gullett with the PSD said crews worked for more than six hours to repair the line, which carries water to all of the areas under the advisory.
“The main line broke last night and they got it back online about 8 last night,” Gullett said. “It was a 12-inch line that feeds everything. It took them awhile to get it fixed.”
Gullett said the boil water advisory usually lasts about two days. She said it could be lifted as early as Friday evening.
