JUSTICE — The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an alleged hit and run incident that led to the death of a male stripper.
Charged in the death of Jason Lee of Albemarle, N.C., is Tommy Blaine Vance, 21, of Man. Vance was arrested by deputies of the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department and charged with first degree murder, driving under the influence, brandishing a deadly weapon, destruction of property and impersonating a police officer on Saturday.
According to Chief Deputy James Smith, witnesses told authorities an argument led up to Lee’s death early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred outside of Club 2000 in Justice on Route 52 after Vance allegedly got into a verbal altercation with male exotic dancers and was asked to leave the nightclub.
Vance was reportedly at the club where Lee was performing as a male stripper and, following the altercation, Vance was thrown out of the night club.
According to authorities, Lee and some other strippers went out into the parking lot following Vance when Vance allegedly got into his pickup truck and allegedly ran over Lee, who was reportedly dragged about 30 feet by Vance’s truck.
Lee reportedly died on the scene.
Vance reportedly fled and was driving back and forth in that area until police finally stopped him.
According to witness reports, Vance told the strippers he was a West Virginia State Trooper, which was not true.
He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 10:40 a.m.
