A severely-injured man was found last night walking half-naked along State Route 10 near Middleburg, police report said.
Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper said Ricky Justice, formerly of Kanada Street in Logan, was found walking along the Logan Boulevard last night around 8:30 p.m. between Stollings and Middleburg. Harper said Justice had suffered serious injuries, including lacerations, a collapsed lung and a puncture wound on his leg.
Harper said Justice was reportedly stumbling along when motorists found him and took him to Logan Regional Medical Center.
“The people who found him in the middle of the road said he was walking up the middle of the boulevard with a jacket and socks and nothing else on,” Harper said.
“He was possibly under the influence of alcohol, plus he had some pretty serious injuries and he was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center and, at this time, he can’t tell us anything,” Harper said.
“We’ve back-tracked to some people he was with and they aren’t able to tell us anything. We don’t know if he was beaten. He has some serious injuries, but, whether he fell over a hill or something, we don’t know, because he can’t tell us.”
Harper said he went to the area where Justice was found and the chief looked for any clues, but found nothing.
“I walked up and down the road there for about an hour to see if I could find the rest of his clothes or the evidence of a crime and I couldn’t find anything,” Harper said. “It’s kind of hard for me to believe he walked all the way up there from somewhere else with no clothes on (from the waist down) and we didn’t get a call on him. It’s my opinion that somebody put him out up there or something.”
Harper said Justice was transported from Logan Regional Medical Center to Charleston Area Medical Center due to the severity of Justice’s injuries.
Chief Harper, Sgt. D.A. White and Patrolman Aaron Newsome are the investigating officers.
Harper said the investigation in ongoing.
“If anybody has any information, give us a call,” Harper said.
The Logan Police Department can be contacted by calling 304-752-6535.
A report to The Logan Banner this morning said Justice is listed in critical condition at CAMC.
