The Chapmanville Tiger Touchdown Club, Inc. has announced they are now accepting membership applications for the 2009 season.
The goal of the booster club is to raise money through membership and fundraising to provide supplemental funds for projects to purchase equipment and facilities upgrades.
“The Chapmanville Tiger Touchdown Club, Inc., has been established to provide the funds necessary to provide our student-athletes with state-of-the-art equipment, weight room equipment, and facility upgrades. The community, school, and coaching staff work hard to promote character development in our student-athletes and we feel that raising funds for special needs and projects is one piece of the puzzle,” said club President Derek Dalton.
The Tigers are coming off consecutive playoff seasons and much excitement surrounds the community and the football program.
In 2007, Chapmanville recorded its first playoff win in school history with a 18-14 win over Keyser at Frankfort High School.
Following an 8-2 regular season, the Tigers hosted their first ever playoff game at Tiger Stadium last season but were shut out by James Monroe, 33-0.
The football coaching staff has recently attended two coaching clinics including the WVU Coaching Clinic and the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic in Louisville where head coach George Barker was an invited speaker.
Recent additions to the program include the creation of www.chapmanvillefootball.com, a website dedicated solely to the high school football program at Chapmanville Regional High School.
The booster club hopes funds obtained through membership and fundraising will help the Tiger football program continue their recent success.
Dalton said the booster club will offer merchandise such as advertisement signs, T-shirts, auto decals, tailgates and other souvenirs to their members.
