BUFFALO – It’s quite simple.
When you don’t have any referees you simply can’t play the game.
That’s what happened on Friday night to the Man High School football team, whose game at Buffalo was postponed when no officials showed up at Buffalo High School.
The game has been moved to Monday at 7 p.m. at Buffalo.
Buffalo coach Mike Sawyer said that a mix-up occurred and he was unaware that no referees would be coming until kickoff time.
“It's very frustrating since we've got to play Monday and Friday,” Sawyer told the Charleston Gazette. “It's frustrating for them, too, since them and their fans drove all the way up here and have to do it again Monday.”
Man enters the game 7-1 and ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A. Buffalo is 3-5.
The Billies will play two games next week as Man is also set to host Matewan on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the regular season finale. Man is trying to lock up home field advantage and the No. 1 seed for the playoffs which begin Nov. 13.
