Editor,
Republican Joe Wilson was recently “admonished” by the Democrat controlled US House of Representatives for shouting “You Lie!” when Barak Obama stated that his health care plan would not cover illegal aliens. Two questions come to mind when considering the shout out, and the subsequent reactions by the liberal Democrats.
First, is speaking out during the president’s address against Congressional rules? Well … only if you’re a Republican disagreeing with a liberal Democrat. You may not recall this, but in the 2005 Presidential State of the Union Address, George Bush was making his case for reforming Social Security (because he claimed it was going broke … which it was and still is by the way) and the Democrats didn’t yell out … they booed him down! But that was OK … I guess?
Furthermore, how often has speaker Pelosi insulted the American people who disagree with Obama; calling them Right Wing Extremists like Timothy McVey, Astroturf, or even Nazis! That is somehow “OK” with ABC, NBC, CNN etc. But, to call Obama a liar … for lying is simply unacceptable. Oh yes … he did lie. That is if you are willing to look at the bigger picture and consider the full intent of his plan. This is the second question which must be answered.
Did Obama lie, as Representative Wilson declared? Well, let’s look at the facts. Then you reach your own conclusion. The proposals currently under consideration in Congress do forbid giving healthcare subsidies to those who are in the country illegally. However, it also makes no requirements to prove citizenship before receiving treatment! So … was he lying or not? It depends on whether you are seeking the truth or if you are only looking for the exact language. The “language” of the bill appears to make the case that they are going to prevent illegal immigrants from getting healthcare coverage … but … if you don’t ask them for their country of origin or their citizenship … then are you really preventing them from getting it?
The same is the case on the issue of abortions. While the plan the president supports does not require federal monies to be used for abortion; it does cover abortions under the “public option” which Representative Nick Rahall so strongly favors. Again are we seeking the “truth” or are we being duped by slick “legalese”? You decide.
Finally, we can be sure that since the federal government now considers abortion an essential part of women’s reproductive health care there is no need to state that procedure specifically. That’s right folks. The government now considers abortion one of many procedures necessary to a woman’s reproductive care; just like a mammogram, a pelvic exam or any other “female” procedure. So now you see why the Democrats don’t name it in the legislation?
They don’t need to; just pass the bill with the language that “all female reproductive care” is included and viola … abortion on demand … with your tax dollars!
Thanks again Democrat party for reminding us that you are the “party of the people” or is it …“the party of the people’s money” I can’t remember? Anyway, until next time … remember to reelect no one in Washington!

"Clintons 1993 SOTU speech where republicans booed him over stats he quoted from the CBO."
"Clinton's proposal to expand Medicare to allow Americans as young as 55 to buy into the system drew shouts of "no" and some boos from Republicans during his speech." [Chicago Tribune, 1/28/98]
"Only once did they unmistakably and collectively show their disapproval -- when Clinton spoke disparagingly of a GOP-sponsored constitutional amendment to balance the budget. Many Republicans hissed and some booed." [Los Angeles Times, 2/5/97]
Another instance of confusion is the contention that Speaker Pelosi "called" Americans names. Sounds like something heard on a Limpwad show, but as with most of his drug addicted rants, simply not true.
As for the writers attempted explanation of the "lie", again he falls short. All the bills can do is make the insurance coverage for illegals...illegal. Evidently what the writer needs to do is address the hippocratic oath physicians take that requires them to help those in need.
Abortion is the law of the land. Had not a republican majority supreme court ruled on it in 1973 perhaps things would be different. Deal with it!
I'm sure there are quite a few people thanking the Democratic party. For the first time in 8 years we finally have a president that's smarter than a box of rocks. Our long dark nightmare if over and we are finally able to look up and begin to dig ourselves out of the massive hole Bush left us in.
