RUTH BELCHER

KISTLER, W.Va. — Ruth Harrison Walls Belcher, 98, of Kistler, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep Sunday, May 6, 2012, from Patty’s Home Away From Home at Whitman.

Born November 24, 1913, at Madison, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Bobby and Minnie Elizabeth Rose Harrison. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Port Walls; her second husband, Arnold Andy Belcher; one sister, Mabel Marie Gibson, and two brothers, Orville and Ray Harrison.

Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed and loved her pet cat, Fluffy. She was a very talented, creative person who enjoyed baking decorative cakes, cooking, gardening and canning. Ruth was a devout Christian whose generosity throughout the years helped many under-privileged children. She had been a member of the Accoville United Methodist Church since 1925, making her the oldest living member of the church at the time of her passing. For many years she served her church as a Sunday school teacher. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Evelyn Perry of Beckley; three step-daughters, Elestine McDaniels of Landville, Josephine Browning of Pomeroy, Ohio, and Geraldine Karnes of Lake Wales, Fla.; 22 step-grandchildren; many great-step-grandchildren and great-great-step-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews; her close friend and neighbor, Movita Moore of Kistler; her church family and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Accoville United Methodist Church with Rev. Norman Harvey and Rev. David Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Herbert Allen Staten, Steve Caldwell, Jack McDaniels, Jr., Darren McDaniels, Randy Browning and T.J. Blevins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Browning, John Staten, and Brian Staten.
