SHORTY STROUD

BREEDEN, W.Va. - Shorty Stroud, 84, of Breeden, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at ARH Hospital of South Williamson in the Skilled Nursing facility.

Born April 10, 1914, at Breeden, he was a son of the late Harmon and Catherine Parsley Stroud. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Susie Marcum Stroud; his second wife, Hessie Crum Stroud; two sons, Paul David Stroud and Willis Ray Stroud, and one daughter, Eva Sue Hughes.

Survivors include his sons, Harmon (Linda) Stroud, Jess (Gustie) Stroud and Van (Ester) Stroud, all of Breeden; daughters, Katherine (Douglas) Payne of Claypool, Ind., Loretta June (Raybon) Williams of Dunlow, Martha (Thomas) Madison of Warsaw, Ind., Ruth (Wiley) Miller of Woodbine, Ky., and Mary Joann (Carl) Hughes of Silverlake, Fla.; stepsons, Troy Stroud and Flem Stroud; stepdaughters, Gladys Watts, Geraldyne Brewer, Evelyn Maynard and Faye Dillon; brothers, Sid Stroud of Radnor and Donald Stroud of Breeden; sisters, Nancy Savage of Borderland and Polly Marcum of Breeden; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Turkey Creek United Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Richmond-Callahan Funeral Home of Warfield, Ky., is in charge of the arrangements.
