Several locals jailed on various charges

Local police have made a pair of arrests on two suspected individuals who reportedly lashed out violently against their victims in recent days.

• Joyce Ann Knipp, 44, of Logan, was arrested in Logan by Logan Police Patrolmen Mark Dickerson and Kevin Conley for burglary and assault during the commission of a felony on July 11.

According to police reports, the officers responded to a call about an unwanted person inside the victim's residence on Dingess Street.

"Upon arrival, officers received information that Knipp had first knocked on the victim's door. Upon the victim coming to the door, Knipp asked to use the telephone and was told to leave by (the victim). At that time, Knipp entered the residence and physically removed (the victim) from the residence and assaulted her, causing a laceration under (her) left eye. The victim is 69 years of age. Knipp was (found) in another residence on Dingess Street and taken into custody. Knipp became extremely belligerent and a half-second burst of Cap-Stun (pepper spray) was administered."

Reportedly, the victim and a witness told offices that Knipp had allegedly attempted to gouge the victim's eye out.

Knipp was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 12:15 a.m.

• Jesse Freer Adams, 21, of Switzer, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper T.D. Boggs for petit larceny and assault and battery on July 8.

According to police reports, on July 3, at 12:45 a.m. the officer received a dispatch regarding an an alleged assault which took place on Steel Branch Hollow Road.

"Upon arrival, the officer was advised by the victim that Adams had slammed her to the pavement while he began punching and kicking the victim," the report states. "She also advised the officer that Adams had taken her purse, (from) which several things had been stolen."

A warrant was issued for Adams' arrest and he was taken into custody and booked at the regional jail at 4:45 p.m.

• Phillip Gaylord Brewster, 58, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for obstructing an officer on July 2. He was booked at the regional jail at 6:10 p.m.

• Timothy James Graley, 26, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for destruction of property, trespassing and failure to appear in court on July 2. He was booked at the regional jail at 7:10 p.m.

• Ronald Michael Bryant, 32, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for destruction of property and giving a false report to police officers on June 26. He was booked at the regional jail at 3:30 a.m.

• Loretta Mae Cantrell, 48, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for obstructing an officer on June 26. She was booked at the regional jail at 4:15 p.m.

• Christopher Thomas Lee, 27, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for bail piece on June 25. He was booked at the regional jail at 5 p.m.

• Bonnie Yowler, 32, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the WVSP for driving revoked and speeding on June 21. He was booked at the regional jail at 12:27 a.m.

• Billy Paul Johnston, 40, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for bail piece on June 15. He was booked at the regional jail at 6 p.m.

• Gary Wayne Lester, 38, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the Logan County Sheriff's Department for capias on June 9. He was booked at the regional jail at 7:15 p.m.

• Candace Hope Ferrell, 22, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, by the WVSP, for driving on a suspended license, driving left of center, no insurance, defective MVI, unlawful use of a license and giving false information to an officer on June 7. She was booked at the regional jail at 12:15 a.m.

• Jose Rumaldo Pachero, 42, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for driving on a suspended license on June 5. He was booked at the regional jail at 3:50 p.m.
