LOGAN — A jury trial is demanded by four homeowners who have filed civil suits alleging damages as a result of mining operations.

Douglas and Janet Morgan; Brandy Blankenship; Claude and Barbara Hoosier; and Michael and Sabrina Privett live in the Lundale/Lorado area of Logan County. They allege INR-WV Operating, LLC, Cliffs Logan County Coal, LLC, or both, failed to confine blasting operations to their property.

A mining permit was issued to INR-WV Operating on Apr. 30, 2008, and then transferred to Cliffs Logan County Coal LLC on Feb. 7, 2011. Suit papers claim the explosions and subsequent force and tremors of surface mining operations are to blame for damages the plaintiffs suffered.

Damages the plaintiffs seek compensation for include repairs to property; loss of enjoyment of property; fright, annoyance and inconvenience.
