Sunday funeral set for slain W.Va. trooper
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The funeral for a slain West Virginia State Police trooper will be held this weekend in Charleston.
Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca says the funeral for Cpl. Marshall Lee Bailey is set for 2 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.
Bailey was fatally shot Tuesday night at the Wallback park-and-ride off Interstate 79 during a traffic stop. Trooper Eric Workman was wounded and remains in critical condition at a Charleston hospital.
The suspect, 22-year-old Luke Baber of Oak Hill, fled on foot and was killed a short time later during a shootout with other officers. State police say Baber also shot and wounded a Roane County sheriff’s deputy and a tow truck driver.
