A longtime Switzer resident recently celebrated his 101st birthday with family in Dunbar.
Emmitt Reeves celebrated his birthday on October 7 with his family at the Shoney’s restaurant in Dunbar. He has been a resident of Switzer since 1940.
He was married to his wife, Mabel (Friz) Reeves on Christmas Day, 1932.
He is a former employee of Omar Coal and Coke and was the owner of the Ashland gasoline station and the Gulf gas station, both of which were located at Switzer.
Emmitt is a faithful member of the Cornerstone Family Fellowship Church at Whitman. In recent years, he enjoyed working his garden and attending church services.
He is the sole survivor of a family that consisted of three sisters and three brothers.
