THELMA STRATTON

La PORTE, Ind. — Thelma L. Stratton, 88, of La Porte, Ind., passed away at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at her home surrounded by family members and friends.

Born September 16, 1921, in Logan, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Carrie Hutcheson Williamson. Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Katherine and Kathleen Williamson, Sue Faurote and Darlene “Doll” Smith; one brother, James Williamson, and grandson, Keith W. Stratton.

On August 27, 1942, in Logan, she married John Allen Stratton. Due to her illness, Thelma was able to choose the time she would leave this mortal existence. This gave grateful children and grandchildren the wonderful opportunity to see her one last time to say good-bye for now.

Survivors include her husband, John; four children, Barbara (George) Morrison of West Jefferson, N.C.; Patricia (Jim) Hann and Robert (Nancy) Stratton, both of La Porte, and John (Summer) Stratton of Sunset, Utah; one sister, Aleen “Pat” Varney of Chapmanville; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank the wonderful workers at Southern Care Hospice who helped Thelma to be comfortable during her final days.

There will be no services. Cremation will take place. Burial will be in the Stratton Family Cemetery at Logan.
