CHAPMANVILLE — The Logan Middle School football team opened with a 27-6 win at Chapmanville on Thursday night in the season opener between the two teams at Chapmanville’s Tiger Stadium.

Dylan Smith was 7-for-15 passing for 102 yards with one touchdown and one interception for CMS (0-1).

Ross Adkins had the TD catch for the Tigers as he reeled in six passes for 89 yards.

Hunter Long had five total tackles to lead the Chapmanville defense. Dylan Smith, Adkins and Evan Willis had four tackles each.

“We just got beat tonight,” CMS coach James Barker said. “They wanted it more than we did. They played harder than we did. We saw some positive things tonight. We just have to get back to work tomorrow. We have two days to get ready to go play Sherman on Monday. Sherman is on our side of the conference and it is a must win. We just have to stay positive and work hard in practice.”

The Tigers and Sherman are set to clash on Monday night at Seth. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Noah Corbett had three carries for 45 yards and a two-point convention run for Logan. Corbett completed 4-of-7 passes for 59 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Browning.

Daniel Browning rushed five times for 77 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown run. He had six rushes for 32 yards with two touchdowns from 16 and 3 yards out.

Daniel Browning led the LMS defense with 16 tackles and one sack. Tyler Browning had nine tackles with two pass breakups.

“This season we have started slow but really have turned it on,” Timberwolves’ coach Jared Voldness said. “We started the season with 13 players and now have over 40. Not all of the players have the required practices to play yet, but will by the first home game on September 13. Daniel and Ty had great games. I would also like to thank my assistant coaches Scott Grimmett, Brian Lauck, and Mike Corbett for all their hard work.”

Next Thursday, the Timberwolves travel to Ripley to open up conference play and the JV opens up on the road against Madison on September 10.
