It was unbeaten Scott taking on rival Chapmanville Regional High School on Friday night at Madison with the Skyhawks’ winning streak on the line.

Scott would stay undefeated with a 63-51 win over the Tigers in a battle of Cardinal Conference and Class AA sectional rivals.

Chapmanville, coached by first-year man Allan Hatcher, saw its record fall to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Tigers had won two games last weekend at their own Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament to take the tourney title and had been riding a three-game winning streak.

Eric May netted a season-high 21 points to lead the Skyhawks, which improved to 8-0 on the season.

Matt Dolan and Logan Webb tallied 14 each for Scott.

Kenny Plumley led the Tigers with a 17-point effort. Michael Hurst had 15 and Mackenzie Martin 13. Trey Dalton, Denver Adkins and Jon Williamson each had two points for the Tigers.

Scott led 19-15 after one quarter and outscored Chapmanville 13-6 in the second to take a 32-21 advantage. The Tigers cut it to 47-37 after three with a 16-12 quarter score but Scott would end up outpointing Chapmanville 19-14 in the fourth to set the final score.

The Tigers are scheduled to get back into action Tuesday night at home against Lincoln County. Game time is 7:30 p.m. CRHS then plays at Sissonville on Jan. 12, hosts Wayne on Jan. 18 and plays host to Nicholas County on Jan. 19.

* The Man High School boys’ basketball team won 70-63 at Huntington St. Joe on Friday night.

No further information or statistics were reported to The Logan Banner as of presstime on Saturday.

The Hillbillies are now 2-5 on the season and were slated to travel to Fayetteville on Saturday night.

Man is scheduled to travel to Westside on Tuesday night and host new Class AA sectional opponent Tug Valley on Wednesday night.

Class AA Westside is 5-2, while Tug Valley is 3-1. The Panthers lost 80-76 at Belfry (Ky.) on Dec. 29.
