LOGAN – Critical injures claimed the life of the Logan County woman hit by a train. The incident happened Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. The train hit Shannon Marie Blankenship, 29, of Chapmanville.
The incident took place at the crossing in the area near the Rite Aid at Chapmanville.
According to reports, Ms. Blankenship made a fatal decision when she decided to try and cross the tracks ahead of the train. She was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
