Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. has made good on his promise to come home. The America’s Got Talent winner and Sony recording artist has just purchased a home in Logan County, and now will play a special homecoming Christmas benefit concert Saturday, December 22, at the Coalfield Jamboree Theatre in Logan.
The concert is being presented by Landau’s former employer Mike Ferrell Toyota as well as Logan Bank and Trust and as a 60th anniversary concert for WVOW Radio in Logan, which first hit the air in 1952 and was the first radio station in America to play Landau’s music.
Many out of town fans are expected to attend the concert, which is being promoted to Landau’s hundreds of thousands of online followers, so local residents are encouraged to purchase tickets quickly before they sell out.
Tickets are just $20 in advance, $30 the day of the show and are available at all Logan Bank and Trust locations in downtown Logan, Chapmanville, Man, Harts and the Fountain Place Mall while supplies last starting Monday, December 10. Tickets will also be available online at www.landaumurphyjr.com.
In addition, you can bring a canned food donation to the show for the opportunity to meet Landau after the show. All food donations will be distributed locally to needy families in Logan County.
“If you have family traveling into Logan from out of town for the weekend before Christmas, what a special treat it would be for them to bring them to the concert, help our radio station celebrate our anniversary and take them to see the lights at Christmas In The Park”, said WVOW morning announcer Dave Allen.

It’s been a busy autumn for Landau; he and his band performed Veterans Day weekend for U.S. troops stationed in Germany. The Armed Forces Entertainment tour included stops in Stuttgart and Edelweiss.
“It was a real honor to play for our brave men and women who are keeping our country safe, and to meet them and their families stationed abroad”, said Landau’s manager Burke Allen.
Landau moved into his new Logan County home as soon as he got back from Europe, enjoyed a few days off for Thanksgiving with his wife Jennifer and their children, and is eager to kick off a brief Christmas tour December 13th.
Landau and some members of his touring band also spent several days in the studio in November laying down cuts for an upcoming Christmas CD. While the CD won’t be released until Christmas 2013, several of the holiday tracks, which were recorded and engineered with producer Ritch Collins, are completed. Landau has a few extra treats in store for fans of holiday music.
“We’re going to preview some of these songs during the Logan Christmas concert, just to make sure we give our fans what they want in a Christmas album,” said Landau. “It was such a busy year that I wasn’t able to put as much time into the Christmas CD as I would’ve liked, and I really want it to be special. We want to make it so good that you’ll want to play it year after year.”
2013 is shaping up to be a big one for Landau, who hits the road in January to Tulsa Oklahoma for a performance at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino there January 9th. Then, they head south to the Sunshine State to Panama City’s Marina Civic Center Friday night January 11th show. Landau wrap ups January working on his next CD and playing a pair of up close and personal shows at the Greenbrier Resort Casino Friday January 25th and Saturday January 26th. The dates will feature Landau’s jazz combo of drummer Ken Tackett, bassist Steve Heffner, pianist Sean Parsons and trumpet Jeff Flanagan, with guest soloist Jeff Bryant. Then in February if all goes as planned, Landau will head out on a 38 city coast-to-coast tour with America’s Got Talent which will keep him on the road through April.
But first, it’s Christmas at home in Logan.
“I really hope to see all my family and friends at the WVOW Christmas concert at the Coalfield Jamboree; that’s where it all started for me so it’s going to be very special,” said Landau.
